A Friendly Reminder for Town of Castle Rock Neighborhoods – Is Your Home Ready for Business?

Is Your Home Ready for Business?

As of 2018, approximately 3.7 million people in the U.S. were self-employed and working from home. It is estimated that nine out of 10 workers wish they could work from home. Are you thinking of turning your hobby into a home business? Castle Rock is a business-friendly community and Town Code allows home-based businesses that do not change the residential character or appearance of the home or neighborhood. All businesses are required to have a business/tax license prior to opening.  Business license applications are subject to zoning review, and additional steps and/or fees may be required. Before you take the plunge, check your Association’s governing documents to assure your home business complies with any established rules/covenants.

Need help getting your business started? Castle Rock’s Economic Partnership (Economic Development Council, Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Development Authority) is eager to lend a hand to help cut through potential roadblocks. They can assist with expert planning, marketing and business savvy to make the process quick and efficient for you. Free business counseling is also available from organizations like SCORE mentors, Small Business Development Centers, and Women’s Business Centers; visit www.sba.gov to learn more. If you have questions regarding the Town of Castle Rock’s business/tax licensing, please call the Finance Department at 303-660-1015.
